Number 5

Where it lands in a sorted draw

Sort a draw and 5 has a favourite seat — chance gives a small number the low positions more often. That is the shape of sorting, not of the machine.

• 1st smallest69 · chance 63.3
• 2nd smallest34 · chance 38.9
• 3rd smallest5 · chance 6.5
• 4th smallest1 · chance 0.3
• 5th smallest0 · chance 0.0

It has shared a draw with every one of the other 33 numbers; chance expected about 0.0 still unmet by now. Every pair →
