Number 45

In Megabucks under the 6/49 · since Jan 2010 rules — 1,904 draws, 6 from 1–49.

185times drawn · chance expected 233 −3.37σ

471draws waiting · a wait this long: <0.1% for any number

7.8average wait between appearances · chance says 8.2

41longest completed wait · 63% chance of one at least that long

45 looks unusual on its own — and unremarkable among 49 numbers

Drawn 185 times in 1,904 draws against 233.1 expected, −3.37σ. Testing all 49 numbers at once means about 0.5 should look this way by luck alone, so the threshold tightens to 2.0e-4 and this does not pass it.

Number 45, draw by draw

Drawn 185 times in 1,904 draws · average wait 7.8 draws · longest completed wait 41 · waiting 471 draws now

a completed wait — darker is longer the wait still running — a lower bound, not a finished gap

Where it lands in a sorted draw

Sort a draw and 45 has a favourite seat — chance gives a large number the high positions more often. That is the shape of sorting, not of the machine.

The company it keeps

Seen most often with these — chance gives every partner about 19.3 shared draws, and the leaders are simply the ones that came out ahead this time.

3 13 23 20 29 15

It has shared a draw with every one of the other 48 numbers; chance expected about 0.0 still unmet by now. Every pair →

How many people play it

Under the crowd model, 45 is picked about 0.86× as often as an indifferent choice — 33rd most popular of 49. That changes nothing about whether it comes up, and everything about how many ways a jackpot on it would be shared.

What this cannot tell you

Nothing here predicts the next draw. A number’s history is a record of a fair machine’s past, and the machine keeps none of it: 45 is drawn with probability 6/49 tonight whatever it did last week.
